Tax on selling foreign shares in a company
I have a shares in a company in Belgium where I work ,I have been living in Sweden since 2004 but travveled up and down every week to work in Belgium,Living in Stockholm with my wife and kids and I have uppehålstilstånd and svensk personnummer. I pay my Taxes and social security in Belgium as I work there .The only thing on the Swedish tax letter is my loan for my house in Sweden. As we are selling the company and I have had those shares since 25 years ,the outpayment of shares is netto there is no tax on it in Belgium. No my question will I be taxed in Sweden on the selling of those belgium company shares . Or should I move back to Belgium .

Hi!
Since you are unlimited taxable in Sweden all incomes are taxable in Sweden regardless if the come from Sweden or abroad. This means that if you sell the shares they will be taxed in Sweden. It would be possible to avoid the Swedish tax if you move back to Belgium but then you family need to move also, you cannot have any close ties to Sweden.
Kind regards

And how are these shares taxed. Is this 22% on the total ammount .
Hi,
Since I imagine it is a limited company and you work for the company there is special tax rules in Sweden regarding the profit. Part of the profit is taxed with 20 percent, part with 30 percent and part as salary. It depends on the profit. I would recommend you register yourself as a client for Skattepunkten so we can help you.
Kind regards
